Changing broadband supplier is always an option. Here at broadband4spain almost 50% of our new customers join us because they have had a disappointing experience with their old supplier. Top complaints are: Slow and intermitant connections, High costs, Billing errors and poor after sales support.
If you are changing supplier or getting connected in Spain for the first time do check all your options. Ask your neighbours what service do they use? Are they happy with the performance and support? What costs are involved?
If you are having problems with your existing supplier take time to talk to them, it may not be their fault, it may not be your internet provider, it could be your own equipment.. A good provider should be able to test your connection and make useful suggestions to get you going again.
Be careful not to get caught in a difficult contract situation, for example mobile phone companies offer internet via their mobile phone masts and 3G USB "dongles". Performance from these systems can be extremely poor in many areas. Only a limited number of masts are equipped for 3G. Having a good mobile phone signal is no indication of likely performance. Frequently we see customers who have signed lengthy contracts (18 months) only to find the service is not available or is very slow where they live. Sometimes 3G signals just "disappear" leaving customers high and dry. Such contracts are notoriously difficult to cancel and have stiff penalty clauses for early termination and very high charges for over use .
Remember it is your money you are spending, if your supplier is uneconomical, consistently failing to keep their promises or meet with your reasonable expectations, then you should change supplier.
When choosing a new supplier take your time, make a properly informed choice, look at all your options and remember to ask around. Donīt be tempted by "special deals" to agree now, or to simply agree with pushy sales staff. And remember many broadband services simply do not deliver what is promissed.
