DHCP for Windows 2000

The CPE (customer Premises Equipment) has a DHCP Server. This means that you can automatically obtain an IP address, DNS servers and gateway address to allow you to access the Internet. If you are using Microsoft Windows 2000 then please ensure the following setting is selected within your Network Configuration settings. ‘Obtain an IP address automatically’.

First go to the Start button and then go to Settings - Control Panel
Then go to Network and Dial-Up Connections and right-click on the Local Area Connection.

Once you have right-clicked on Local Area Connection, you need to choose ‘Properties’. The next screenshot will show you the appropriate screen.

In this screen, you need to select ‘TCP/IP’ and then click ‘Properties’.

In order to obtain the correct information for your Computer, please ensure that ‘Obtain an ip address automatically’and ‘Obtain DNS server address automatically’ (as shown in the above screen shot) is selected.

Once this is done, the computer is completely configured and ready to connect to the Internet
